Pilot Run of Taiwan-Japan Patent File Wrapper Exchange Service Commenced 12 January 2021
To facilitate sharing of file histories and other relevant information sought by applicants and patent examiners between Taiwan and Japan, the Taiwan-Japan Relations Association and Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on patent file wrapper exchange between Taiwan and Japan on 30 November 2018, to build a shared platform for accessing patent examination documents. After two years of preparation, the Taiwan Intellectual Property Office (TIPO) announced that a pilot run of the aforementioned service commenced 12 January 2021.
The International Patent File Wrapper Information Exchange platform (https://tiponet.tipo.gov.tw/S093_WEBP/outer/outer4001pub) will allow instant online search by the public to obtain published or announced patent examination file wrappers for invention and utility model patents, which include patent family list, patent examination document list, relevant files, IPC classification and patent citations, by entering application number, publication number, patent number or DOCDB number.
The public can utilize the file wrapper information exchange service at its convenience.
