According to the statistics released by the Intellectual Property Office (IPO), for Year 2011, the total number of new patent applications received by the IPO is 82,988 cases. As compared with Year 2010, the Year 2011 new patent filing stands for a 3.10% increasing rate. Among the new patent applications filed in Year 2011, 50,082 cases are invention cases (including 23,518 cases filed by domestic applicants and 26,564 cases filed by foreign applicants). In Year 2011, there are in total 43,528 “substantive examination requests” filed for inventions patent cases, and there are 50,305 patent cases granted.
