We are writing to inform you of the National Holidays in Taiwan, Mainland China and Hong Kong:
I. QingMing Festival Holidays in Taiwan
Please be advised that the Taiwan Intellectual Property Office (TIPO) will be closed from 2 April 2020 to 5 April 2020 for QingMing Festival Holidays. According to Article 48(4) of the Law Governing Administrative Procedures, for a case with an outstanding deadline falling on an official holiday, such a deadline can be extended to the first working day after the official holiday. Given the above, for any of your Taiwanese patent cases or trademark cases with an outstanding deadline falling in the period from 2 April 2020 to 5 April 2020, the deadline can be extended to 6 April 2020.
II. QingMing Festival Holidays in Mainland China
Please be advised that the China National Intellectual Property Administration ("CNIPA") will be closed from 4 April 2020 to 6 April 2020 for QingMing Festival Holidays.
According to Patent Examination Guidelines and Implementing Regulations of the Trademark Law of the People's Republic of China, for a case with an outstanding deadline falling on an official holiday, such a deadline can be extended to the first working day after the official holiday. Given the above, for any of your China patent cases or trademark cases with an outstanding deadline falling in the period from 4 April 2020 to 6 April 2020, the deadline can be extended to 7 April 2020.
III. National Holidays in Hong Kong
Please be advised that the Intellectual Property Department of Hong Kong will be closed for the following holidays:
1. 4 April 2020 for QingMing Festival Holiday;
2. 10 April 2020 to 11 April 2020 for the Good Friday and the day following Good Friday;
3. 13 April 2020 for the Easter Monday; and
4. 30 April 2020 for the Birthday of the Buddha.
For any of your Hong Kong patent cases or trademark cases with an outstanding deadline falling within these days, the deadline can be extended to the first working day subsequent to the official holiday.
