Seminar Regarding How the Employer deal with Prevention and Handling of the Sexual Harassment Cases

In recent years, the rise of Hollywood #MeToo movement has led the wave of rethinking the issues of sexual assault and sexual harassment globally. The awakening of gender equality and the number of cases of sexual harassment complaint have been increased tremendously year by year in Taiwan. On that account, Lee and Li, for our clients, organized the Seminar Regarding How the Employer deal with Prevention and Handling of the Sexual Harassment Cases on July 12, 2019 in CHANG YUNG-FA Foundation. Lee and Li's Senior Associate, Joyce Chen, Associate Partner, Jason Lee, and Partner, T.C. Chang gave a lecture on the major topics of "How to prevent from occurrence of sexual harassment", "How to handle with complaint of sexual harassment", and "Case analysis of handling with sexual harassment" respectively in this Seminar and shared with our clients their knowledge about applicable laws and regulations and experience on handling related cases. In this Seminar, our clients were not only aware of the employer's responsibilities for the prevention of sexual harassment but also understood the step and approach which the employer should take in dealing with the complaint of sexual harassment with the purpose of reducing the employer's legal risk to the greatest extent.

During this Seminar, our Partner, T.C. Chang, through his lecture on the cases analysis of sexual harassment and the enthusiastic communication of Q&A with participants, exchanged opinions extensively with the heads of legal and HR of our clients and provide them with practicable and workable advice. As pointed out by T.C. Chang in his speech, the protection for the victim of sexual harassment is the major concern on the mechanism of prevention and handling with sexual harassment. As a result, the suspected would be in an unfavorable position through the investigation proceedings of sexual harassment cases once the suspected has been complained by the victim. Therefore, T.C. Chang reminded the participants to pay attention to the procedural protection for the suspected during the investigation in order to protect the legitimate rights of both sides and gave the suspected and victim the benefit of doubts in a reasonable way.

The participants all found this Seminar to be highly instructive and have reaped no little benefit. Lee and Li will be more than glad to organize continuously the seminars or events on the labor laws related topics which employer are concerned most and invite all of our clients to participate and share experience with us.
